It's first turned between centers, and then I create a wooden jam chuck that I use to hold the ladle while I hollow out the bowl. During that part of the process, the handle spins around like a propeller! This is a fun and fast project, but it does require a bit of skill. I would not recommend this as your very first turning.

Bowl of Gratitude

My good friend Geoff Richardson asked me to make a bowl in memory of his mother, who recently passed away. This bowl will have a special purpose in his family, hopefully for generations to come. He also had several acorns made, and each one holds a small amount of his mother's ashes. The idea is that at dinner, each member of the family takes an acorn. Once the meal is done, each person says something that they're thankful for as they place the acorn back in the bowl.

Turning A Wooden Chandelier

This video shows the process of creating a production woodturning piece - the body of a chandelier that I make for a local lighting company.
